How did you first hear about DisruptHR?
My good friend, Kelly Poulson, discovered the event and asked me to co-organize the first Philadelphia chapter.
Why did you decide to raise your hand and become an organizer for DisruptHR events in Philadelphia?
Kelly’s enthusiasm and the energy behind DisruptHR was amazing. I had no choice but to say yes.
How many events have you organized?
We have our 4th event coming up in November and we’ve had between 250 – 280 at each one. They’ve been wildly successful and everyone asks when the next one is coming up!
What types of people/industries have attended your events?
We get HR folks, Talent Acquisition leaders, Consultants, CEOs, etc.
What are you most proud of that has come out of being involved with/organizing DisruptHR events?
This is one of the most talked about HR events of the year in Philadelphia. We truly do attract a different crowd than the other HR events. Some of the folks who have presented have really launched certain parts of their careers and doors have been opened for them – I’m always being thanked by our presenters. We have fostered a community of disruptors – it’s truly remarkable.
What kind of feedback have you received from those who attended prior DisruptHR Philadelphia events?
Again, I think I’ve been most touched by the folks who have been afforded the opportunity to present and have really noticed their careers positively impacted. They are so grateful.
What is your favorite DisruptHR Talk, and why?
Kristen Bakalar – Diversity and Invitation. It was hilarious and spot on.
Based off of the Talks and conversations at your events, what do you feel are the areas with the biggest opportunity for disruption?
Diversity and Talent Acquisition.
What excites you or frustrates you about the future of work, your career and/or DisruptHR?
I own a search firm in Philadelphia – one of our core areas is placing HR and Talent Acquisition professionals. I am excited by the evolving and dynamic field of the people people. Finally, HR professionals and Recruiters are given the respect we deserve! It’s a growing and exciting time in HR and Philadelphia – our city is exploding with opportunity!
