Who are the people that are taking the lead in disrupting the future of work?
TheyÛªre the official Disruptors (Organizers) of DisruptHR events held in cities around the world. Each week, weÛªll introduce you to one of these intelligent, inspiring, and beautiful people (okay, pick two) who have stepped up, and volunteered to organize a Disrupt HR event in their city.

Who are you, and what do you do in your ÛÏday jobÛ?
Maggie Shea, CPA, Partner at StaffBuffalo, LLC. (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook).
How did you first hear about DisruptHR?
My wonderful co-organizer, Holly Nowak, brought it to our attention and I immediately fell in love with the concept! I spent hours that day listening to the Disruptors while I worked. It was motivating and inspiring and I wanted to be a part of it!
Why did you decide to raise your hand and become an organizer for DisruptHR events in Buffalo?
Buffalo is going through a renaissance. I was born and raised in Buffalo and it was always treated as a joke, due to its economic decline. I moved away to go to school at Northeastern in Boston and moved back in 2008. There was a tangible energy that big things were happening and I wanted to be a part of it from the ground-level. Similarly, there is a new wave of HR and the ideas that these magnificent Disruptors are bringing to the table are exciting and motivating and I wanted to be a part of bringing those ideas to the public!
How many events have you organized?
This is our second DisruptHR event in Buffalo, coming up on 10/11/17! We had over 100 attendees for the first year and we already have 100 attendees signed up with 1 month to go! We are hoping to get over 200 people to attend this year and grow from there!
What types of people/industries have attended your events?
We welcome all types of people, industries, specialties, and ages to attend DisruptHR Buffalo! The event has spread rapidly by word of mouth and social media and we want as many people to attend as possible, as long as, they are ready to have fun and learn something new with an open mind!
What are you most proud of that has come out of being involved with/organizing DisruptHR events?
I am most proud of my DisruptHR team. We started out with 3 of us- Holly Nowak, Ginine Capozzi, and myself ÛÒ and we now have close to 10 volunteers, all pitching in to make this event a success. We all work extremely hard to get the right Disruptors, Sponsors, and cover all the logistics that will help continue to grow the event for all to enjoy for many years to come.
What kind of feedback have you received from those who attended prior DisruptHR Buffalo events?
The resounding feedback was that it was FUN ÛÒ and that is what we wanted it to be!
What is your favorite DisruptHR Talk, and why?
This is a really tough one, but the DisruptHR Talk that always stands out for me is ÛÏIdea SexÛ. It is such an interesting take on pulling creative ideas together and creating bizarre offspring.
