Who are you, and what do you do in your “day job”?

I am Gary Willmott, CEO of Hi5.

How did you first hear about DisruptHR?

I came across one of the talks online and was intrigued.

Why did you decide to raise your hand and become an organizer for DisruptHR events in Cape Town?

It was perfect timing for us. There was a challenge with South Africa not keeping up to date with current trends in leadership and management. We saw DisruptHR as the platform to accelerate the education and excitement towards the future of work.

How many events have you organized?

Two events!

Attendance at the 1st event: 50-60

Attendance at the 2nd event: 80-90

What types of people/industries have attended your events?

CEO’s, HR Leaders, Management, Leadership Coaches, members of the startup community.

What are you most proud of that has come out of being involved with/organizing DisruptHR events?

The energy and excitement on the evenings, feels like the start of a movement. The relationships and partnering invaluable.

What kind of feedback have you received from those who attended prior DisruptHR Cape Town events?

Based off of the Talks and conversations at your events, what do you feel are the areas with the biggest opportunity for disruption?

HR itself is changing rapidly.

What excites you or frustrates you about the future of work, your career and/or DisruptHR?

The only thing that frustrates me is how long it’s taking South Africa to catch up.

What excites me is that, through disruptHR, it feels like we are at the forefront of the Future of Work within SA.
