Who are the people that are taking the lead in disrupting the future of work?
They’re the official Disruptors (Organizers) of DisruptHR events held in cities around the world. Each week, we’ll introduce you to one of these intelligent, inspiring, and beautiful people (okay, pick two) who have stepped up, and volunteered to organize a Disrupt HR event in their city.

How did you first hear about DisruptHR?
Why did you decide to raise your hand and become an organizer for DisruptHR events in Fargo?
I fell in love with the idea of disrupting the norm of HR. There is so much more we could/should be doing in our organizations and for our people.
How many events have you organized?
Our first event was October of 2016 and we had a little under 100 in attendance.
What types of people/industries have attended your events?
We had almost exclusively HR folks.
What are you most proud of that has come out of being involved with/organizing DisruptHR events?
The buzz after the event was amazing! The more “disruptive” speakers made an impact and a couple of our videos were most watched for a week!
What kind of feedback have you received from those who attended prior DisruptHR Fargo events?
Honestly, being told, “thank you”. Attendees loved getting outside the usual “conference” feel and creating a fun atmosphere for networking and conversation.
What is your favorite DisruptHR Talk, and why?
Adam Martin speaking about felons in the workplace. This had the most post-event conversation and as a community, we have become more receptive to integrating felons back into the workforce.

Based off of the Talks and conversations at your events, what do you feel are the areas with the biggest opportunity for disruption?
Reintegration of felons into the workforce is a huge area of disruption for our community. More and more employers in our area looking past the stigma of felon and looking at the person.
What excites you or frustrates you about the future of work, your career and/or DisruptHR?
I have a list in my head of topics I hope we can disrupt on in the future. The big one is gender transition in the workplace (focus on the human, not the bathroom policy). Someday it will happen at Disrupt HR Fargo!
As far as the future state of our HR careers, I get frustrated by our profession getting so caught up on policy and procedure – and forgetting about the people. If you aren’t in this for the people – get out. And that is why I love getting disruptive – let’s move our workplaces forward for the best of our people!
