Meet The Disruptors: Ryan Batchelor of DisruptHR Raleigh-Durham

Who are the people that are taking the lead in disrupting the future of work?

They’re the official Disruptors (Organizers) of DisruptHR events held in cities around the world.

Each week, we’ll introduce you to one of these intelligent, inspiring, and beautiful people (okay, pick two) who have stepped up, and volunteered to organize a Disrupt HR event in their city.

Who are you, and what do you do in your “day job”?

Ryan Batchelor – Talent and People Lead at TransLoc Inc.

How did you first hear about DisruptHR?

Jennifer McClure – CEO of DisruptHR LLC, and Laurie Ruettimann – Founder of Glitch Path, Inc.

Why did you decide to raise your hand and become an organizer for DisruptHR events Raleigh-Durham?

HR needs some disruption, and to quote another presenter – more “idea sex”. This sounded like a perfect avenue to do that.

How many events have you organized?

We’ve had one event so far (October 11, 2016), and our second event is scheduled for March 14, 2017.

The first event sold out, and we maxed our space at 120 people.

What types of people attended your event?

HR practitioners, recruiters, company founders, HR and People team leaders.

What are you most proud of that has come out of being involved with DisruptHR events?

The best part so far is hearing about other people doing awesome things to change the status quo in HR.

What is your favorite DisruptHR Talk, and why?

Greg Roche‘s DisruptHR Denver talk – “Idea Sex in Talent Management” was my favorite so far. I reference it often now.

Based off of the Talks and conversations at your event, what do you feel are the areas with the biggest opportunity for disruption?

Compensation, employee engagement, employee satisfaction, employee retention, and branding. Basically everything. 🙂

What excites you or frustrates you about the future of work, your career and/or DisruptHR?

I’m excited by how many different minds are thinking about problems with what’s happening in company cultures now, and what can be done to solve it.
